The last thing anyone wants is a bad camping trip, and the best
way to avoid it is to be prepared. Take a few moments to
consider what you want out of your camping trip, rest and
relaxation, try new things, meet new people, get away from the hustle
and bustle or just slow down. All are good reasons and camping
is great for them all. Now consider what would make your camping
trip a bad one. Rain? can't help ya there. You may want rain if
you didn't bring enough water. Bring plenty of good drinking
water. Many campsites have plenty of water but it taste funny
and can make your coffee or other drinks taste even funnier, and
that's not funny. So choose you supplies carefully, this checklist
will help you to be more prepared. What you don't want to do is
clean or cook the entire time, so choose your meals carefully
and prepare main meals at home when possible, cooked meat
keeps fresh longer then raw meat in the cooler, and bring only
the necessities to consume them. Paper or disposable plates are
a better choice then washables.
If you've got the supply list in order,
what are you going to do when you get there? Hike, fish, swim,
the list goes on. Consider the length of your hikes, swims, and
the amount of time you choose to fish. Some members of your camp
may not be as into it as others, especially children, it can be
more fun for all to take several short hikes or other activates.
So time management is a good thing when it comes to camping.
You may want to consider your fellow
camper when preparing for your trip. There is a thing called camp
etiquette. If you've ever camped near an inconsiderate
camper you'll know where I going here. To be brief I'll list a
few don'ts.
-
Don't Assume.
Some one ounce said when you ASSUME you make an ASS
out of U and ME.
-
Don't listen to
your music so loud the next camper can hear. Many
folks are there to get away from just that and
may not even like your choice of music.
-
Don't leave
lights on all night
-
Don't include
yourself with other campers. Being polite is great but
other campers may not be there to meet new friends.
-
Don't be a messy
camper. Keep your area clean of garbage and properly
dispose of your waste. No camper wants to pick up your
trash or see trash blown all over.
-
A very sensitive
subject is children and pets. Most people love
children and pets but, Don't let yours impose on
fellow campers. A barking or threatening dog or an unruly
child can ruin a camping vacation that has been planed
and been saved up for a long time.

Make sure when you choose
your campground, you can camp the way you want to camp without
offending other campers.
